Mining communities across South Africa often struggle to make their concerns heard and to track whether mining companies deliver on their Social and Labour Plan commitments. In response, we developed the Socio-Economic Technology Initiative (SETI), a data platform that captures, analyses, and maps community engagement data. Through its interactive tools, SETI helps residents, local government, and mining stakeholders surface issues, link them to verified evidence, and use insights for planning and dialogue. By transforming community feedback into usable data, SETI is helping bridge the gap between mining companies and the people most affected by their operations.
